PM lays foundation stone of international cricket stadium in Varanasi, says  world is getting linked with India through cricket

At the ceremony to commemorate the laying of the foundation stone for the international cricket stadium in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar participated alongside Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The Varanasi cricket stadium, which also happens to be PM Modi’s Lok Sabha constituency, is another step toward building cutting-edge, top-notch sporting facilities, according to the officials.

Other cricketers including Ravi Shastri, Sunil Gavaskar, and Dilip Vengsarkar were also invited to the Varanasi stone-laying ceremony in addition to Sachin Tendulkar. Important BCCI officials, including President Roger Binny, Vice President Rajiv Shukla, and Secretary Jay Shah, were present during the ceremony.

The Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Yogi Adityanath-led government of Uttar Pradesh will collaborate to create the stadium. The UP government spent 121 crores on site purchase, while the BCCI expects to spend about 330 crores building the stadium.

The design of the stadium is based on Lord Shiva and includes details like floodlights that resemble tridents, seating that is placed like ghat steps, and metallic sheets that are formed like Bilvipatra on the exterior. Up to 30,000 spectators may be housed in the stadium.

Varanasi hosts PM Modi

PM Modi is in Varanasi for the opening of several events and to take part in them. The Prime Minister will attend the Kashi Sansad Sanskritik Mahotsav 2023 closing ceremony after the international stadium’s foundation stone-laying ceremony and visit the Rudraksh International Cooperation and Convention Centre.

PM Modi will dedicate 16 Atal Awasiya Vidyalayas constructed in Uttar Pradesh during the event.
