But according to rumors over the weekend, OpenAI investors are trying to remove the company’s board and rehire Altman as CEO. Powerhouse supporters like Microsoft and top venture capital firms are pushing for his reinstatement. Furthermore, it’s said that OpenAI staff members are advocating for Altman’s return.

The Information, a tech news website, reports that Altman and Greg Brockman, another co-founder of OpenAI who resigned on Friday as the company’s president, were invited to a meeting on Sunday at the company’s San Francisco headquarters.

Shortly after Altman’s shocking firing, Brockman tendered his resignation. He said that during a brief Google Meet conversation, Altman was invited to participate and told that he had been fired. Brockman himself got a similar letter and was told over the phone that he would continue to work for the firm but would no longer be on the board.
