Top Wagh Bakri Tea Group executive and businessman Parag Desai passed away on Sunday, a few days after being bitten by stray dogs outside his home. He was 49.

Desai was attacked by street dogs on October 15 and sustained serious injuries while attempting to defend himself, according to Ahmedabad Mirror.

He was transported to Shelby Hospital after a security officer outside his home informed his family about the incident.

Desai was moved to Zydus Hospital for surgery after spending a day under observation at Shelby Hospital.

On Sunday, though, he passed away from a cerebral hemorrhage while receiving treatment.

Shaktisinh Gohil, the leader of the Gujarat Congress and a member of the Rajya Sabha, expressed his condolences for Desai’s passing on social media.

The news is rather depressing. Wagh Bakri Tea’s director and owner, Parag Desai, passed away. He had fallen and had a cerebral hemorrhage. May he rest in peace, his soul. I send my sympathies to the entire Indian Wagh Bakri family, he wrote.

Rasesh Desai, the managing director of the Wagh Bakri Tea Group, was Desai’s father. His wife Vidisha and daughter Parisha are still alive.

Desai, who has over 30 years of business expertise, oversaw the Group’s international business, sales, and marketing, according to Exchange4Media. He was a renowned voice in the industry and actively participated in important industry venues including the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
