The body of a tribal man is shown being set ablaze in a trench in another horrifying footage from the violent Manipur that Monday sparked a strong response from the opposition.

The Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance, or INDIA, described the occurrence as “extremely sad and shameful,” despite police being cited in media reports as saying the video appeared to be dated early May and that they were looking into the matter.

This is from Manipur, I swear! Manipur’s Kuki tribal youth being burned alive is a shocking and repugnant act. Modi ji is lamenting the neighbouring nation while failing to save Manipur, the INDIA posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, while posting the hazy video.

Manipur WhatsApp groups shared the seven-second video on Sunday. According to reports, the man can be seen in the footage lying in a trench while wearing a black T-shirt and camouflage pants. His body is on fire, and his face has been beaten.

Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi, a partner in the INDIA bloc, also commented on the issue.

“A tribal man’s body is seen being set on fire in a trench in yet another horrifying video that has been leaking from Manipur. Apparently from early May, according to a police official who saw the footage. Still not mentioned or addressed is the Manipur tragedy. Priorities” was what she wrote on X.

Since May 3, protests by the Kuki and Meitei communities against the high court’s directive requesting that the state government take the Meitei group into consideration for inclusion in the Scheduled Tribes (ST) category have resulted in violence in the northeastern state of Manipur.

In Imphal East, utilizing loudspeakers for any sort of march, rally, protest, or other illegal assembly was immediately forbidden by the district administration on Sunday.

A group of more than five persons has the potential to disturb the district’s public peace, according to a notification from the district magistrate, and prompt action is required to stop this from happening.
